Hunterdon Medical Center encourages medical student elective rotations in addition to the required MS III rotations in Pediatrics and Family Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Our electives have consistently proven stimulating to the students and to our residents. They are open to all students from LCME and AOA approved schools. (1) Acting Internship - Family Medicine. Students nationwide have taken this rotation and rated it highly. These students work with the family health center faculty and residents, and work up and follow family practice patients on the family medicine inpatient service. They attend morning report, grand rounds, and residency conferences. Teaching rounds with attending physicians occur daily. In addition, they follow up their discharged patients at the Family Health Centers or through house calls. Each week, one half day is spent at either
the family health center or a community family practice office observing
and participating in The acting internship is best suited for
fourth year students as well as third year students who have completed
inpatient medicine and (2) Community Family Medicine Elective. Medical students at various levels of training may work with any of our residency-trained, board-certified, community family physicians. This intimate exposure to family medicine in the "real world" is exciting and rewarding and might occur as early as the first year or second year level. Preceptorships are arranged between the students and the individual physicians. Contact: Stanley M. Kozakowski, M.D. Overview I
