Psychiatry

Broadly based and one of the largest departments in the Medical Center, Hunterdon Behavioral Health directs the Behavioral Health Center for Hunterdon County and manages a 15-bed inpatient unit. The department has an extensive addictions treatment program, a partial care hospital program, an active medical consultation service, an outpatient psychotherapy department and several school based programs. Residents experience a two week rotation on the inpatient unit supervised by staff psychiatrists learning how to handle psychiatric emergencies referred through a busy Behavioral Health Emergency Services Division. Residents manage routine psychiatric problems, such as psychosis, depression and alcohol detoxification.
