Medicine (ICU/CCU)

First year residents spent two months in the Intensive Care Unit/Coronary Care Unit under the direct supervision of our critical care specialists and cardiologists. The resident functions as an important key member with the attending physicians and a nursing staff.

Medicine (Cardiology/GI)

Second year residents spent one month managing patients on a monitored step-down unit. Their responsibilities include supervision for all the patients admitted to that unit. A second month is spent with intensive training with the gastroenterologist. The residents work in a variety of settings including the GI lab, the inpatient GI service as well as gastroenterologists offices.

SUB-SPECIALTIES

Second year residents spent four months working with a variety of medical and surgical subspecialists. The setting for these experiences are both inpatient and outpatient. Residents learn the subspecialists perspective of a variety of problems which confront family physicians on a regular basis.
