Frequently Asked Questions About the Application Process

Q. What are the criteria for applying to the Hunterdon program?
A. All applicants must have passing scores on the USMLE exam Part I (and Part II if taken.) Applicants must have graduated within the preceding 5 years and have clinical experience within a hospital in the U.S. within the preceding 12 months. We do not sponsor visas of any type.

Q. Do you have different criteria for international graduates?
A. No. The criteria are the same for all applicants.

Q. Do you have a profile for a particular type of student that the program seeks?
A. We do not select applicants to fit a particular profile. Our goal is to find individuals who we believe can work well in our program.

Q. What are my chances for acceptance if I apply?
A. Each year we receive hundreds of applications through ERAS and many more telephone inquiries. Ultimately we will rank less than 50 applicants for our 6 positions.

Q. Can I send a paper application form?
A. Only applications through ERAS are accepted.

Q. Do you accept applicants outside of the Match?
A. We believe strongly in the Match process. We will not consider taking applicants outside the Match.

Q. What is the deadline for applications?
A. January 1, 2009

Q. Do you require additional materials from applicants?
A. We rarely request an applicant to send additional materials. Please do not send additional materials unless specifically requested. Materials not requested will not be reviewed.

Q. What happens after I apply to Hunterdon? How will the program communicate with me?
A. Applications are reviewed upon receipt through ERAS. Those candidates who have been selected for an interview will receive a written invitation to schedule an interview. All other active candidates are kept in an "On Hold" category. Those candidates "On Hold" are periodically reviewed. A few candidates from this category may be later invited to interview. Please do not call the program to check on your status.
