Probably no other family practice residency program in the nation offers the opportunity to care for 50-75 diabetic children! Camp Nejeda, the camp for diabetic children in New Jersey, has given thousands of children the opportunity to safely enjoy a camp experience and to learn about managing their diabetes in such a setting. The camp experience also models good diabetic care, proper nutrition, and living successfully with this chronic disease. Since its inception, the third year family practice residents from Hunterdon have rotated through the camp, living with the children and counselors, managing the diabetes and learning in the process. Full time on site diabetic specialist physicians assist with the residents' responsibilities and provide outstanding teaching.
